Future Science (a Multimedia Sketch Comedy Event) presented by Rocketship Comedy

Future Science (a Multimedia Sketch Comedy Event) presented by Rocketship Comedy

Rocketship Comedy is proud to welcome back Cincinnati’s hit comedy show, Future Science*, to Indianapolis.

The night will feature a whole new show plus standup sets from Dj Dangler, David Britton and Leslie Dinsmore.

Doors 8, show 9. $5 cash. 21 + w/ ID. general admission. all seating is first come, first served.

*Future Science is a division of the Monolith Corporation tasked with collecting and presenting scientific data from the past, present and future. Doctors Karl Spaeth, Logan Lautzenheiser, Andy Gasper and Professor Chris Weir invite experts in every scientific field to come give informed talks to the public. The scientists welcome surprise guests to the stage, and show scientific educational videos.

Future Science is also a live multimedia sketch comedy show written and performed by comedians Karl Spaeth, Logan Lautzenheiser, Andy Gasper and Chris Weir. The comedians play fictionalized scientist versions of themselves, setting the show in a world where every TED Talk is given by an insane person. Their absurdist comedy is equal parts sharp intelligence and unapologetic silliness. They combine their influences of Mr. Show, Kids in the Hall and Late Night with Conan O’Brien into something utterly original.

A new hour long show has been performed the last Sunday of every month at MOTR Pub since 2014. The group has accumulated over 230 sketches and videos, and will bring the best of those out on a tour throughout the Midwest in 2016. Future Science was created with the very simple purpose of making people laugh, and they hope to do just that in your town this summer.

"Future Science is a hilarious trip through everything from love to crime, teaching us what we never knew we didn't know." - Geoff Tate (Doug Loves Movies, Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson)

"I had the opportunity to catch Future Science when I was doing shows in Cincinnati, and I love it! Funny from top to bottom, and constantly inventive and fresh. Four and a half stars! I only withhold that half-star because no one gave me any nachos, or even asked if I wanted them. For shame." - Adam Cayton-Holland (Those Who Can't (TruTV), Conan, @midnight)

We're working on the nachos thing.

There are some things you can only say without words. Scanlines is an instrumental/electronic postrock exploration of these thoughts and feelings. Slick meter changes and rhythmic explosions punctuate a tapestry of otherworldly textures and soundscapes. Scanlines will perform selections from their first two records as well as a handful of new tunes not available anywhere else (yet).

Let's Comedy presents KURT BRAUNOHLER*

Let's Comedy presents

KURT BRAUNOHLER* live at The White Rabbit

One Night Only

with Sammy Arechar (Limestone Comedy Festival) & Nathan Gropp

Monday , August 29

Tickets on sale NOW!

$12.50 Advance

Limited VIP tickets also available for $20 (Guaranteed best seating reserved without having to show up early and first group to meet and greet after the show.)

*Kurt Braunohler is a comedian, skywriter, and jet-skier, who has committed his career (perhaps foolishly) to “inserting absurdity into stranger’s lives to make the world a better place.” His stand up has been described as, “refreshing idiocy from an enthusiastic weirdo”, by his own mother. He has an album, a half-hour Comedy Central Special, and late night spots on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Kurt Braunohler was featured in Variety’s annual prestigious “10 Comics To Watch” list, named in Time Out New York’s list of 50 Funniest New Yorkers and Backstage Magazine’s “5 Comics To Watch,” “Comic to Watch” by Comedy Central, the New York Comedy Festival and Time Out NY, as well as “Best Male Stand-Up” by the ECNY and “Best Unscripted Host” by the New York Television Festival.

On TV, Kurt can been seen (or heard) on Bob’s Burgers, The New Girl, @midnight, Comedy Central Presents, Drunk History, Chelsea Lately, David Cross’ new film HITS, John Oliver Stand Up, Delocated, Getting Doug with High, Adam Devine’s House Party, Jon Benjamin Has a Van, Assy McGee, The Heart She Holler, Human Giant and as host of IFC’s comedy game show Bunk!. He has also performed standup sets on CONAN and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and The Late Show with Seth Meyers.

Kurt’s pilot “Gettin’ Some Strange with Kurt Braunohler,” a late-night talk show where Kurt covers the strangest stories of the day, revealing our beautifully insane world, is in development for Comedy Central. He can also be heard on the radio on This American Life telling a story which he is currently developing for film.

Kurt rode a jet ski from Chicago to New Orleans on a seven city water tour/mission to send 500 goats and 1,000 chickens to families in need in Africa. The adventure was filmed for a Comedy Central webseries called “Roustabout” and launched January 2015 on cc.com.

Kurt’s chart-topping debut album How Do I Land?, recorded live at packed rock clubs, was the first comedy release for venerable indie label Kill Rock Stars and was included in several Best Of 2013 lists The album’s title comes from Kurt’s “Cloud Project” in which he raised $6k on Kickstarter and hired a pilot to write the words “How Do I Land?” across the LA sky. The resulting skywriting images went viral.

Called “a prolific stand-up comedian” by the Los Angeles Times, Kurt has performed his whip-smart comedy on stages across the world including Outside Lands, SXSW, Moontower, All Tomorrow’s Parties, Bonnaroo, Just for Laughs in Montreal and Chicago, SF Sketchfest and IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang! Live. Oh, and he once performed at Radio City Music Hall.

Kurt co-created and has co-hosted the continuously sold-out variety show “Hot Tub” for 10 years with comedy writing partner Kristen Schaal. The duo moved the show to LA in Jan 2013 where it was hailed “the hottest new comedy show” by Los Angeles Magazine. Kurt and Kristen continue to host and peform Hot Tub to a packed house every Monday night.

Kurt’s popular podcast “The K Ohle with Kurt Braunohler” features some not-so-standard segments featuring Kurt and guests including Paul F Tompkins, Matt Braunger, Jon Daly, Kumail Nanjiani, Steve Agee and Nick Thorburn (from Islands/Unicorns who also wrote the theme song). Episodes are available on the Nerdist Network.

“A charismatic comedian with a flair for the absurd.” – New York Times

“Kurt Braunohler is the closest thing we have to a real-life Willy Wonka.” – Vice

“Not only a singular talent, but an inimitable spirit.” – LA Weekly

FRIDAY

Wednesday, August 17

Doors 8pm, Flick 9pm

Puff puff, give. Puff puff, give. Don't fuck up the rotation. Join Frankie, Craig and Smokey for an epic story of two friends who learn and grow from their experiences, life choices and smoking weed. Plus Frankie Special Cocktails, Popcorn, drinking challenges and more.

Hard-core rapper Ice Cube, after appearing in such hard-hitting films as Boyz 'N the Hood and Higher Learning, played his first comic role in this picture he co-wrote with frequent musical collaborator DJ Pooh. Craig (Ice Cube) manages to get fired on his day off (though he claims it's through no fault of his own) and spends the day hanging out with his buddy Smokey (Chris Tucker) and trying to avoid his father (John Witherspoon), who wants him to find another job immediately. Smokey (whose name might have something to do with his tremendous fondness for marijuana) has even more serious problems; he was given $200 worth of weed to sell by Big Worm (Faizon Love), but he ended up smoking it instead, and if he can't come up with the money by the end of the day, he'll be in a world of hurt (and will put Craig in the same place just for being his friend). And Deebo (Tom "Tiny" Lister, Jr.), a gargantuan bully who roams the neighborhood on his bicycle, has it in for Craig, while Craig tries his best just to stay out of his way. As one would expect, Friday features a strong hip-hop soundtrack, featuring tracks by such artists as Dr. Dre, Cypress Hill, Mack 10, and Funkdoobiest, as well as old-school R&B selections from The Isley Brothers, Roger, and Rose Royce

Rocketship Comedy presents Future Science (a Multimedia Sketch Comedy Event)

Rocketship Comedy is proud to present Cincinnati’s hit comedy show, Future Science*, in Indianapolis as part of their summer tour.

Doors 8, show 9. $5 cash. 21 and up ith ID. general admission. all seating is first come, first served.

"There's A Good Reason Some Talent Remains Undiscovered"

Join Frankie for a this classic mockumentary from the lead guitarist of 'Spinal Tap'

The residents of Blaine, Missouri - the self-proclaimed home of the first UFO landing in the United States (Blaine residents beg to differ with Roswell's claims) and stool capital of the world - are excited about the town's upcoming sesquicentennial celebrations, which will have as its centerpiece the original musical production, "Red, White and Blaine". Assisted by high school music teacher Lloyd Miller, Corky St. Clair, the musical's writer/composer and former New York theater professional (off off off off Broadway) who currently leads the Blaine Community Players, will helm the production. Corky and Lloyd are excited about their 'talented' cast of locals and the production as a whole, Corky and Lloyd who themselves are as untalented and unaware as their cast. Corky and company are especially anticipating the presence of Mort Guffman in the audience on opening night, he a representative of the prestigious New York based Oppenheimer Organization. In Corky's mind, a favorable review from Guffman means that the production is heading to Broadway. Through all the ups and downs and more downs of the pre-production, everyone in Blaine still can't wait for opening night and the arrival of Guffman, upon who the cast and crew's dreams rest.
