Doors 8pm, Flick 9pm, Only $5

Join Frankie JJ Holliday, Jr., Clarence & Alabama as they steal, cheat & kill their way into your hearts. 'Who said romance is dead?'

In Detroit, Clarence Worley goes to the movie theater alone on the day of his birthday to watch some movies. The gorgeous Alabama Whitman accidentally drops her popcorn on Clarence and they watch the movie together. Then they eat pieces of pie and they have one night stand, so Clarence eats more pie of another kind. In the morning, Alabama confesses that she is a call-girl hired to spend the night with him, but she has fallen in love with him. In the morning they get married and Clarence goes to the club where she worked to bring her some clothes. However, her pimp Drexl Spivey and his partner beat up Clarence and he reacts by killing them both. Clarence asks for Alabama's suitcase with her clothes and the other girls mistakenly give another one with cocaine. When Clarence discovers the mistake, he decides to travel with Alabama to the house of his friend, the aspiring actor Dick Ritchie, to sell the drug and travel to Mexico. He visits his father Clifford Worley and gives his address to him. But the Sicilian Mafia is the owner of the drug and a group of killers are sent to hunt down Clarnece and Alabama.

Tabari McCoy recorded his first comedy album in his basement when he was either 10 or 11 years of age. But it was terrible – and like the item central to the plot of Indiana Jones and The Lost Ark – it was filed away, never be heard again.

Luckily for the public, Tabari has gotten much better with age – and as soon as he takes the stage, you’ll have no problem discovering just why that is.

A fan of stand-up comedy dating back to when Bill Cosby: Himself was new in theaters, Tabari’s sense of humor reflects a wide assortment of influences, speaking on everything from every day annoyances to pop culture, sports and his own personal experiences. Tabari's conversational, every man style has led him to open for a wide range of today's stars, including but not limited to Mike Birbiglia, Tom Segura, Christina Pazsitzky, Charlie Murphy, Rich Vos, Ryan Stout and Tommy Johnagin among others.

Tabari has also been honored to perform at several prestigious events, such as the illustrious San Francisco Sketch Fest, the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival/ and the inaugural Limestone Comedy Festival in Bloomington, IN. In addition to being featured on “Rooftop Comedy’s Road Trip” on the MavTV Network and Hulu.com, Tabari also starred alongside his mom in an episode of HGTV’s popular series Property Virgins buying his first home … Hence the reason he would really appreciate you supporting his career.

An award-winning journalist during his days as a newspaper reporter for The Cincinnati Enquirer, Tabari continues his writing pursuits today – most prominently at McCoy On Movies, his online movie blog (most of his reviews can also be found online at CincyChic.com). Currently, Tabari is enjoying the 2013 release of his debut album, Laughing With a Panther. His future on stage is looking bigger, brighter and hopefully for the sake of the banks that he owes money, more financially stable.

But no matter what he says, he does it with one simple goal in mind: Making people laugh – and hoping he doesn’t anger his family or God in the process.

Pulp: A Film about Life, Death & Supermarkets

Thursday, October, 2

Doors: 7pm // Film: 8pm // Runtime: 90min//$10Adv

Florian Habricht’s witty, innovative documentary follows the legendary titular band (perhaps the smartest and most charismatic in all of BritPop) as they prepare to say farewell after 25 years of performances. Though culminating with the farewell concert the band played to thousands of adoring fans in their hometown of Sheffield, England, PULP is by no means a traditional concert film or rock doc. As much a testament to the band as it is to the city and inhabitants of Sheffield, PULP weaves exclusive concert footage with man-on-the-street interviews and dreamy staged sequences to paint a picture much larger, funnier, more moving and more life-affirming than any music film of recent memory.

Weezer 'Pinkerton' Tribute / S.M. Wolf / Digital Dots *HALLOWEEN SHOW*

Playing the blue album tribute was quite a good time, so we decided to do it again. We're doing Pinkerton this time. You probably know this record, and you probably love it; and if you don't, sorry boutcha. Like before, this show is one and done. We're just going to learn Pinkerton, have a few beers, play it live for you, and then never do it again. But unlike before, we're doing this one in an actual venue, because you guys all singing together is louder than our PA at home. And because you drank the entire keg before we got to "Buddy Holly".

Our friends in S.M. Wolf and Digital Dots will get things rolling. They are the hottest things in town since the summer drought of 2012 when you couldn't water your lawn.

It's All Hallow's Eve. If you show up in costume, you'll save a couple bucks getting in -- which you can then spend on a cool bev for you or your significant other.

Time for Three and Steve Hackman, Creative Directors

Click here to see the video of My Brightest Diamond's single "Be Brave" from her latest album All Things Will Unwind. She will perform this song with the ISO on January 19.

As impressive as her list of recent collaborators, Shara Worden's voice and arresting live performances have left audiences thunderstruck from the Sydney Opera House to Lincoln Center to the House of Blues. She's performed under the experimental-pop moniker My Brightest Diamond for the last seven years, and counts Bryce Dessner (The National), Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), David Byrne, Laurie Anderson and each of The Decemberists among friends and fans. They are just a few of the many who've fallen in love with Worden's mystical voice and mythic storytelling.

Growing up outside of Detroit in a family of musical evangelists, Worden studied multiple instruments (her father is an acclaimed accordionist and mother an organist). She became equally passionate about classical and Motown, later pursuing a degree in Opera at the University of North Texas where she wrote and recorded original material for the first time. After moving to New York by way of Moscow, Worden recorded three albums before joining the ranks of Sufjan Stevens' Illinoisemakers. She then expanded her musical education further by studying composition under Padma Newsome (Clogs, The National), and turned out several scores for off-Broadway productions.

Worden's artistry seems to transcend music itself. On stage she evokes as much Martha Graham as Edith Piaf, and can be found collaborating with visual artists (Matthew Ritchie) and filmmakers (Matthew Barney, Murat Eyuboglu) alike. Where worlds are colliding, there is a Shara; a zeitgeist for a growing movement of experimental musicians eager to bend the borders of artistry and genre.

Having recently returned to Detroit, planted a garden and given birth to a son, Worden's latest offering, All Things Will Unwind, draws inspiration from the motor city itself. More folk inspired than much of her recent work the new album addresses the juxtaposition of life and death, class and race, pantries and politics—as heard through the mesmerizing lullaby of a new mother.

For more information in Tonic 13 visit their website. www.tonicindy.com

Tonic Ball is a celebration of local music and art. It’s a night of fun and excitement. And it’s all for a good cause.

Each year we pick three iconic bands and/or musicians, ask some of our favorite local performers to cover a few of their songs, sell tickets to the show, and give all the proceeds to our favorite charity: Second Helpings. That’s Tonic Ball in a nutshell.

Tonic takes place each year on the Friday before Thanksgiving at four Fountain Square venues: White Rabbit Cabaret, Radio Radio, the Fountain Square Theatre, and The Hi-Fi. It wasn’t always that way—for the first few years, we covered just one famous musician/band and used Radio Radio as our exclusive venue. But too many people started showing up for just one room. So we expanded.

And we’ve continued to expand. Now, in addition to hosting music at four separate venues, Tonic Ball also features an art gallery, a silent auction, and a special event—Tiny Tonic—just for kids.

So what are we about? Great music. Scintillating local artwork. Entertaining the whole family. But most of all: feeding people in need. And every ticket you buy for Tonic Ball helps us take another crucial step toward eliminating hunger.
